Continuing the winning streak in the 2012 awards season, Pekin & Pekin picked up the Best in Turkey trophy at Euromoney European Women in Business Law Awards in London. View the list of winners here.

Celebrating efforts and the effectiveness of firms in implementing gender initiatives, focus points were talent management, gender diversity, pro bono, innovation, minority women, mentoring and work-life balance. With female lawyers outnumbering male lawyers in Pekin & Pekin, gender issues are a priority for the Firm and implementing fair and effective policies is central to succeeding as a progressive law firm. Collecting the award, Gökben Erdem Dirican thanked Euromoney for recognising Pekin & Pekin and for inviting the Firm to celebrate the achievements of women leading the field in the legal sector across Europe.

Other awards won by the Firm this year include International Financial Law Review's Turkish Law Firm of the Year and International Legal Alliance Summit & Awards Gold Turkish Law Firm of the Year.

Pekin & Pekin retained the "Gold" Turkish Law Firm of the Year award at the International Legal Alliance Summit and Awards in Paris, beating off competition from Turkey's leading law firms.

Key deals swaying the judges included acting for Aeroports De Paris in its recent acquisition of stakes in Turkish airport sector companies TAV Havalimanları Holding A.Ş. and TAV Yatırım Holding A.Ş. (38% of TAV Havalimanları's issued share capital for USD874mn and 49% of TAV Yatırım's issued share capital for USD49mn) - resulting in one of the largest airport alliances in the world and managing either directly or indirectly approximately 180mn passengers in 37 airports.

Additional deals of interest not disclosed due to confidentiality included the acquisitions of energy, defence, pharmaceuticals and agribusiness assets, and the financing of energy acquisitions in Turkey.

The award follows Pekin & Pekin's winning International Financial Law Review's Turkish Law Firm of the Year 2012 for the third time in its six-year history.
