Events: TerraLex Global Meeting Istanbul 2011 |
|
Date: 19 September 2011
Venue: Swissotel The Bosphorus, Istanbul
With over 290 participants from 66 countries, Pekin & Pekin hosted the TerraLex Global Meeting 2011 14-18 September 2011. TerraLex, a network of international independent law firms, gathers representative firms from across the globe twice a year to debate the latest legal developments and find opportunities for member firms to work together. 2011 was the turn of Istanbul, giving us the chance to showcase the city and inform delegates of what present day Turkey really means.
Speakers from the Pekin & Pekin team included:
- Fethi Pekin with a speech entitled "Turkey: Today and Tomorrow", bringing delegates up-to-date on political and economic developments in Turkey and the outlook for the future.
- Ali Şanver spoke on private equity investments and tax incentives, acquisition opportunities involving Turkish distressed companies, and the Turkish tax arena.
- Gökben Erdem Dirican discussed crossborder litigation, how a Turkish legal firm works with international counsel and key points for enforcing awards and judgements in Turkey.
- Sezin Akoğlu and Irmak Dirik joined the intellectual property, licensing and technology group outlining the approaches taken by law firms in Turkey to protect their IP clients' interests and the action of the authorities.
This was the second such event hosted by Pekin & Pekin following the successful Lex Mundi Global Conference in 2008, where ministers and a former president joined delegates for a memorable event.
Presentations for the TerraLex will be available via the TerraLex website.
