Following a long legislative process the Turkish Commercial Code No. 6762, in force since 1957, has been repealed and superseded by the new Turkish Commercial Code No. 6102. The effective date of this new Code is 1 July 2012, subject to certain exceptions. This Memorandum gives brief information on various provisions of the Code by giving weight to the provisions pertaining to business enterprises and joint-stock companies, which we believe are of particular concern to companies, firms and banks.
