A new payment scheme was introduced on 7 July 2009 in light of the amendments to the Law on Credit Cards (Law No. 5464). The rules and principles pertaining to this payment scheme aim to protect indebted credit card holders. Accordingly, credit card holders requested to make payments or those subject to execution proceedings may inform the credit card issuing institution of their intention to pay the debts in accordance with the payment scheme within a certain period of time. Provided they signed the payment scheme, credit card holders shall be allowed to charge 25% of notary, trial or execution proceedings expenses to the scheme.
