The Regulation on the Auditing of Bank Information Systems and Banking Operations to be conducted by Independent Auditing Firms (published in the Official Gazette dated 13 January 2010, Numbered 27461) has been enacted effective as of 31 December 2009. The Regulation repeals the former regulation in force since 2006. The Communiqué provides extensive provisions for the auditing of banks with the aim of ensuring transparency. In this respect, in addition to the comprehensive auditing principles to be followed by internal audit firms, the Communiqué provides a stricter approach compared to the previous communiqué for the obligations of banks in terms of disclosure and the provision of information.
