The Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (the “BRSA”) issued a press release on 31 July 2010 regarding the main indicators for the Turkish banking sector. According to first-half 2010 data sent by banks to the BRSA, the assets of the Turkish banking sector as of July 2010 equalled TL900,390,000 (approximately EUR473,889,000), indicating an increase of 18.4% (equal to TL139,929,000) compared to July 2009. Moreover, profits generated by the banking sector in July 2010 were TL13,547,000 (approximately EUR7,013,000), indicating an increase of 6.5% compared to July 2009. The sector’s capital adequacy decreased by 0.5% from 19.8% in July 2009 to 19.3% in July 2010.
