Article 16 of the Regulation on the Credit Operations of Banks (published in the Official Gazette dated 1 November 2006 and numbered 26333), which regulates transactions not subject to the credit limitations set forth under Article 54 of the Banking Law No. 5411, was amended on 30 July 2010. The amendment introduces new transactions that are not subject to such credit limitations. These transactions include: 1) loans extended by banks and secured by Treasury surety-ships as part of the support provided by the Treasury as per Article 20 of the Law on Regulating Public Finance and Debt Management; and 2) those in return for debt instruments issued by banks in the form of securities.
