The Communiqué No. 2006/1 on Maximum Interest Rates to be imposed on Credit Card Transactions was amended on 17 December 2010 and became effective as of 1 January 2011. As per the amendment, monthly maximum contractual interest rates for Turkish lira, USD and EUR debts arising from credit cards have been reduced, while monthly maximum default interest rates have been increased.
