The CMB announced the draft Regulation regarding the Provisions in relation to Activities and the Incorporation of Pension Mutual Funds on 16 February 2010. In the draft, it is anticipated that (i) Pension Mutual Funds (“PMFs”) may add their fund assets in participation accounts, (ii) the maximum thresholds for investments in mutual fund participation shares and deposits and/or participation bank accounts will be increased, (iii) PMFs may be party to derivative contracts for investment purposes, rather than hedging purposes, and (iv) the lending rate of PMFs will be significantly increased.
