Putting most proposed improvements in relation to corporate law on hold, including the new draft of the Turkish Commercial Code, Turkey has been busy enacting countermeasures to the financial crises, just like the rest of the world. A number of reductions in various tax rates and the improved tax incentive structures enacted in the first quarter of 2009 have been integral parts of the Anti-crisis Measures Package.

On the other hand, in harmonising Turkish law with European Union Law, efforts have been ongoing to increase control over competition infringements with a new leniency policy and method for calculating competition fines promulgated by the Competition Authority.
